Volumne 5 No. 2 Dan on the MoveDaniel Maguire, the Consultation's President, has been on the go nationally and internationally, talking about the issues that concern the Consultation and promoting the work as well as the books of the Consultation's Scholars. Here are some highlights of Dan's schedule: Radio showsIn addition to spending a lot of time in planes and meeting people, an has also taken to the airwaves. In the last few months, he has been a guest on more than 40 talk radio shows in the US, Canada, and Brazil - carried nationally, regionally, and in local markets. Both CNN and the Associated Press have interviewed him. The major newspaper in Brazil, Jornal do Brasil, wrote extensively about Dan's visit to address the 49th Brazilian Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics in Sao Paulo, Brazil. (See page 7.) Where else has he been? Signings and talksHe's been to book shows in St. Charles and Chicago, Illinois. He's spoken to an audience of 1,200 teenagers at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Population Ecology. He's talked about Ecology and Religion at Marquette University.He's been to the Wisconsin State Capitol, speaking to the Wisconsin Attorney General and 200 government attorneys about Ethics, Law and the Sacred Choices Initiative.He has had speaking engagements for Planned Parenthood in Denver, Los Angeles, Rhode Island, and Washington, DC. Dan and two other Participating Scholars, Rifat Hassan and Sa'diyya Shaikh, both Islamic scholars, spoke on The Dignity of Women in Islam at Union Theological Seminary, New York, NY. (See page 9.) Dan has also visited two medical colleges, The Medical College ofWisconsin and the Medical College of the University of Wisconsin to address their students on the Sacred Choices Initiative. What's next? While 2001 has been a busy year for
Dan, he does not expect things to slow down any in 2002. In January,
Dan and several of the Participating Scholars will present papers at
an annual conference of the Society of Christian Ethics, including a
panel on Women,Men, and Bodies: Inter-religious Perspectives held in
Vancouver, British Columbia. Plus, Dan has more Planned Parenthood talks
on the calendar for Santa Barbara, San Diego, and 5 cities in Washington
state and Oregon. Table
